Season of Change: A Goodbye and Hello at Frederick Fence

August 28, 2018 ~ Posted By Jim Jenkins

One of the distinguishing factors that makes Frederick Fence such a popular company among its customers and employees is its family atmosphere. Whether you’re a customer who bought a home nearly 30 years ago, a repeat customer on your third move or a new homebuyer in Frederick, you’re considered part of the family for this fence supply company. It’s one of the core values built into the company by our founder, Charlie Powers, since 1982.

When you look at Frederick Fence’s staff, you’ll see folks who have been there from day one—as well as a few recent additions—who call this place home. As with most families, there are those who simply choose to sometimes move on to get to the rest of their lives and sometimes there are new arrivals that continue to bring a richness and depth to the group. This summer, Frederick Fence will lose one of its most cherished family members while simultaneously welcoming a new one. We’d like to take a moment to honor them both!

Farewell to our master repairman–John Angles. Thank you for your many years of service and for being such an incredible asset to our team!

Goodbye to Our Friend and Master Craftsman, John Angles

If you’ve called Frederick Fence for a repair on your fence in the past 20 years, chances are that John Angles paid a visit to your home. Hired initially in 1988 as a Foreman and Deck Builder, John has acted as Frederick Fence’s Service Manager since 1998 in charge of all repairs. Having taken a brief break in his early employment, John has skillfully applied his master carpentry skills to the delight of many customers within the Maryland, Virginia, DC, West Virginia and Pennsylvania area. “John is a brilliant problem solver,” says Erin Powers, Vice President. “He can fix practically anything and always manages to make people happy when he visits their homes. We’re all sad to see him go, but nearly 30 years of service is truly a great way to end his time with us.”

Originally from Dickerson, Maryland, John comes from a large farm family—he’s one of nine children— and is widely known and loved by Frederick Fence staff and its customers for his warm and friendly approach to making fences whole again. “He loves coming into work knowing that he’s going to spend a lot of his day fixing people’s problems,” says Powers. “He has a generous spirit that’s infectious and fun—people around him are always smiling.” After his many years of service, Angles plans to spend much of his time traveling and seeing the country, his friend and family from his RV; however, he’s still open to do the occasional creative fence design project should a customer specifically require his amazing carpentry skills.

We wish you all the best, John Angles. Thank you for all you’ve done and for your truly humble but inspiring dedication to Frederick Fence.

Hello to the New Mrs. Powers

Frederick Fence sends many blessings to both Todd and Laura Powers. Congratulations on your wedding–may you share many years of happiness and joy!

The Powers family at Frederick Fence recently celebrated its newest addition—Todd Powers, son of Charlie and Diane and the company’s Director of Vinyl Operations, recently married Laura Lebherz. Todd and Laura were married on August 11 at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in downtown Frederick, followed by a reception of about 200 of their closest family members and friends at the Walkersville Overlook.

Todd met his bride about five years ago through mutual friends and got engaged earlier this year. Their first date featured target shooting and dinner and the rest is history. “It’s great to have another female in our ever-growing family,” says Erin Powers. “We were all thrilled that Todd found his true soul companion when he met Laura; this is a very happy time for us.” After their wedding, the couple honeymooned in Antigua.

As for their future, Todd and his lovely wife are still figuring out what happens next for them. According to Erin and Kelly Powers—Todd’s sisters: “Our biggest hopes are that they soon take advantage of the amazing babysitting service that Charlie and Diane Powers offer up to all their children and that we see a bigger home and fence in their future!”

We wish Todd and Laura all the best and many happy years of marriage in the decades ahead.

FenceChristmas

Happy holidays from Erin, Todd, Charlie, Kelly and Diane Powers!

Before we all take a little time off this week to honor and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, we want to take a moment to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas.  No matter what holiday you celebrate this time of year, we hope that each of you have a joyful holiday season with your family and friends.  Our wish is that everyone throughout the world find peace in their hearts and that we all learn to take better care of each other.

Thank You For a Fantastic Fence Season

Frederick Fence had an amazing 2017, thanks to you, our amazing family of clients.  As you may have read in this blog, our company celebrated its 35th year in business, an achievement we know is made possible thanks to the thousands of clients who chose us as their vendor for a fence solution.  We’re extremely proud to serve each one of you—we consider every client to be part of our family.  We value your patronage and we truly appreciate knowing that many of you have stayed with us as you’ve moved to bigger homes or have moved out on your own and chose us to put a fence around your first home.  We are truly humbled in our success when we think of all the great people we’ve serviced for nearly four decades. This was a monumental year for our company as we officially changed leadership since opening our doors many years ago.  Our founder, president and original owner, Charlie Powers, officially transferred ownership of Frederick Fence to his children—Erin, Kelly and Todd—and they are all happy and proud to be part of the next generation of Frederick Fence.
